Temi Peters is an Integrative Counsellor & Psychotherapist

As an integrative therapist, Temi pulls from several modalities to meet her clients’ specific needs. Temi’s aim is to create the safe space that is required to explore thoughts and feelings, without any fear of control or judgement.

“I walk along-side my clients as they attempt to make sense of ‘their world’ and understand ‘their pain’ (present and past); then help discover new ways of navigating the different relationships or psychological difficulties in life.”

Having had a wide range of experience in the NHS working with individuals who have low self-esteem, anxiety and depression; Temi has been able to develop a better understanding and deep empathy towards the daily struggles of an individual who does not have the skills to cope, and may be feeling hopeless. Temi’s warm, gentle and open approach has always helped to break down the barriers of resistance to change.

Temi is particularly interested in supporting individuals who have been affected by the trauma of childhood abuse, and the many challenges associated with negative experiences, or the lasting impacts of navigating our earliest relationships.

Background, Experience & Qualifications

Temi is a qualified Integrative Counsellor & Psychotherapist with over 20 years’ experience within Christian Counselling and Worship ministry.

Temi has worked as an IAPT Counsellor, as part of the NHS service designed to offer short-term psychological therapies to people suffering from anxiety, depression and stress. This has given her access to a range of individuals from various backgrounds and communities, enhancing the ability to work with difference.

Her volunteering experience has been as a support worker, working with families or individuals who experienced Domestic Violence & Abuse, usually displaced and trying to get back on their feet. This has broadened her knowledge of local government resources and charity organisations for signposting.

With a background in Business IT, Quality Analysis and Customer Services; Temi decided to retrain in 2015, starting with the Level 2 Certificate in Counselling Skills, followed by the Level 3 Certificate in Counselling Studies. On completion, she moved on to a Post Graduate Diploma in Integrative Counselling & Psychotherapy, promptly followed by a Masters in Integrative Counselling & Psychotherapy.

As a professional singer and humanitarian, Temi also runs a non-profit organisation and continues to work within the church environment and local community, creating a platform for live music, creative arts and performance; to help bring the community together.

Temi currently runs her own private practice, alongside which she continues to work/volunteer with an established mental health charity.

Temi is fully insured, holds an enhanced DBS certificate, and registered with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) whose code of ethics she abides by.
