What’s worrying you?

Depression.

Do you have a persistent low mood but are unable to pinpoint why? Maybe you already know why you feel low but can’t seem to get out of it? Or you are constantly struggling with your emotions and feel unable to cope? Living with depression can be incredibly difficult, for both those suffering and those around them.

It could be time to seek some support to understand what you are feeling and what you need. Whatever it is, please get in touch with us. You are worthy of help, no matter how trivial you may perceive your problems to be.

Bereavement.

Have you lost a loved one? Maybe you are struggling to find new meaning in your life since the sudden departure of a friend? During bereavement, it is important to find our own ways to mourn our loss and express our grief.

Whatever it is, we all react to similar circumstances differently but must still go through the grieving process in order to say goodbye. If you feel stuck and need help to support you through the stages of grief then, please get in touch. You do not have to face it alone.

Anxiety.

Do you feel worried and nervous all the time? Maybe you are filled with dread, fear and general unease? Despite these feelings being a normal experience, sometimes some of us can be affected more than others, and it can be very intense. Do you feel that it is getting out of your control and affecting your ability to function?

Whatever it is, we can give you the support you need to understand what/why you are feeling and how to gain new coping mechanisms to deal with it. You do not need to continue to deal with the distress of your anxiety on your own.

Childhood trauma.

Have you many secrets from your past? Things that you have never had the courage to admit, and are beginning to seep through the cracks of your life. Maybe you are having flashbacks of distant memories you never knew existed? Or are you just struggling to understand how past experiences are affecting your present day behavior?

Whatever it is, we can provide a safe space to explore these thoughts and feelings so that you can begin to understand why you are, the way you are. Talking to a professional can make all the difference.

Low self-esteem.

How do you perceive yourself and the world around you? Is it all negative? Do you find it very difficult to accept praise or a compliment? Maybe you always struggle to find value in yourself, and it is having a negative impact on your daily life? You may find that you also struggle in relationships, trying new things or taking risks.

Whatever it is, we can provide a space for you to explore your thoughts and feelings. Then you can try to discover who you are, and begin to navigate your world with a better sense of self and a renewed confidence.

The Strong Woman.

Are you tired of being the strong person who is always there for everyone else? Do you struggle to find the space to ask for help because everybody thinks you can always cope? Maybe you don’t know how to ask for help anymore, because it has been so long since you tried? Or have you tried, but no one is listening? Have you forgotten what it means to be absolutely vulnerable?

Whatever it is, we are here for you. This is the space and time for you to be heard and understood.

How I can help you…

As an integrative therapist, I pull from several modalities to meet my clients’ specific needs.

Persons Centered Therapy

This therapeutic approach focuses on the individual and I work to immerse myself into their world. I want to understand how they perceive themselves. This means that they are the experts in this relationship.

I do not push to direct or control the narrative. I work with the presenting issue that the individual feels safe enough to bring to the session.

I listen to your pain, giving unconditional positive regard; no bias, judgement or manipulative intent. I communicate true empathy and not pity.

We work together, to find new coping mechanisms to help navigate your world. You feel empowered.

Relational Therapy

In this therapeutic approach I am looking to form a trusting relationship with the individual.

It is not biased, judgemental, manipulative or controlling. It is a relationship that is mutually satisfying. There is unconditional acceptance and mutual respect.

The work is in the experiencing and the navigating of this genuine relationship. Maybe it’s a relationship that has never been experienced before this moment.

The idea is that such relationships are necessary for your emotional well-being.

Maybe we can begin to understand the behavioral patterns that have re-occurred in the relationships in your life. Then, we can begin to see how these relationships have made you perceive yourself.

Psychodynamic Therapy

This therapeutic approach is all about getting to the roots of your psychological pain.

The individual must be ready to do a lot of self-reflection and self-examination.

Also based on the foundation of a trusting relationship and the collaboration of both therapist and individual. We revisit past trauma, and the blurry buried memories of imagery and smells. We re-examine past relationships, thoughts and feelings.

I will attempt to help you find patterns in your emotions, thoughts, and beliefs in order to gain insight into yourself.

Who are you? Why are you the way you are today? What experiences and emotions have shaped you? How do you perceive yourself? How do you think others perceive you? Why do you feel the way you feel today?

CBT Therapy

This therapeutic approach focuses on how an individuals thoughts, beliefs and attitudes affect their feelings and behavior.

I will be more directive in this relationship. Sometimes, I will ask you probing and challenging questions. We will work collaboratively as we do practical and creative exercises within and outside the therapeutic room.

You will receive ‘homework’ and keep a diary or journal to track your progress. I will check and observe evidence of your engagement.

The aim is to gain basic coping skills for dealing with specific problems in your everyday life.
